Lecture cycle “Human rights. The origin of the idea and its development throughout the centuries”

In November 2010 we had the lecture cycle “Human rights. The origin of the idea and its development throughout the centuries”.

Our history teacher familiarized us with the origins of the Human Rights idea in the time of The Great French Revolution and its later development until the adoption of The Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948, as a consequence of the cruel crimes against humanity during The World War II.
We examined carefully the topic of different kinds of human rights and after that we discussed our Student rights, which are, undoubtedly, a huge part of our obligations.

In the second part of the lecture cycle we engaged ourselves in the main characteristics and marks of totalitarianism. The topic of our project is the freedom of travelling in GDR and PRB, which were under totalitarian rule. That’s why it’s so important to us to know how life looked like in those countries.

Next week we are going to carry out an audio-video conference with our partners from Germany. The topic is going to be “Human Rights. History. Current examples of breaking the human rights in Bulgaria and Germany”. We’re looking forward to meeting our German friends!
